Just wanted to say thanks for the review of ‘Trade Fleet’ and let everyone know the game is available on TGC, Amazon, and the IcePack Games facebook page.
I saw the review at “The Gamer’s Table”. Looks like fun!
Good show! And to show that I’m not just systematically throwing my dear Jordan under the bus with my comments here….he may be a snob, but he is a kind snob who generally makes it a point to be respectful of other people’s interests – even if he feels they are a ridiculous waste of time.
Enough about Jordan…..I knew very little about Anime and was quite interested to learn about it from your guest. I found the discussion engaging, despite my lack of prior knowledge on the subject matter. I will definitely check out some of the links you put on the page. I’ve also requested “Grave of the Fireflies” from our library system and it’s already on its way. So thanks!
I forgot to mention…I liked the discussion of the documentary (Man on a….something), as well! I’m seeing a new regular segment for you guys….”What we’re watching that one of us thinks is a totally different movie than it actually is or that does NOT star Milla Jovovich, but Jordan will swear it does anyway.”
And…I love the Horror Headlines segment.
As I said, good show. Thanks for the entertainment and the new info.
Every movie should star Milla Jovovich.
Another enjoyable episode.
I’m a long-time Godzilla fan and have blocked the MAtthew Broderick movie out of my mind, much like “Robocop 2″ any “Highlander” sequel.
I’ve got “Hatfields and the McCoys” all queued up to watch at lunch time! I totally forgot about it and it snuck under my radar. Thanks for the reminder and thank you cable company for On Demand!
Also, always nice to see a Game Crafter game under review.
This episode of All Us Geeks got me through the drudgery of a page-one rewrite of one of my game manuals. It’s going out to The Dice Tower for review and I really wanted to put a polish on it. So, thanks for the back-up!
See (hear?) you all next time!
We have recently addressed issues with the Happenings Cards. Lost, Escort, and Taxation have changed. The card mix has also been tweaked to take advantage of the new cards.
Thanks for sharing the update on Trade Fleet!
Thankfully, I haven’t encountered any geeks who hate against my geek passions. But then I tend to stick within the specific geek community where everyone likes the same thing so there are no conflicts. Now I have encountered non-geeks who think I’m being childish because I like tabletop games and LEGO, but thankfully that hasn’t happened very often.
Ah, anime. I was big into anime in high school and college. I still enjoy it, though I don’t actively look for it or buy it any more, but I’ll watch it on Hulu or Netflix if I see something interesting. Back in the day, I always tried to stay on the legal side of things with official released from companies, but some of those companies did horrible jobs. I still have remnants of geek rage for Viz. I had a constant love/hate relationship with them. I loved that they brought anime and manga to the US. I absolutely hated the company and the way they produced things. The final straw that broke me off anime and manga was when they made the Shonen and Shojo Jump colored. Oh, they didn’t do full color, no. They turned the black and white drawings into pink and white or blue and white. It was the hardest thing to read and completely ruined the manga for me! I quit following their stuff after that and slowly my love for anime and manga diminished. *long sigh*
Anyway, I really enjoyed the anime discussions, even with the mixed feelings of nostalgia that came to me. It’s good to know that anime is more available now, though I agree that some of the stuff I’ve checked out on Netflix/Hulu hasn’t been very good. But one thing I’ve always liked about anime over American TV is the better storytelling – planned beginning, middle and end. Though some conclusions I haven’t liked, but at least it was finished and not just ended with no resolution.
Trade Fleet sounds like a nice filler. As always, nice to hear about Game Crafter games.
My husband and I are big Agricola fans. I must admit it always stresses me out, but in a good way, I guess. It definitely feels like a struggle to survive in a rural setting. I also feel that I could do better, but then we’ve only played like 5 times so far and we have several expansions we haven’t tried. So I’m sure we’ll find something that will really make the game better for us. Definitely a brain drain game and I have the most analysis paralysis while playing this game. So far, only my husband and I play. Not sure yet if any of our friends would like it. There are other worker placements we’ve introduced them to, like Puerto Rico, which they enjoy because gameplay is much smoother and not as complicated.
It’s funny, before I found Kickstarter, I only ever bought a game if I could get a good discount on it. Now, I’m paying retail, if not sometimes more than the retail cost to support Kickstarter games. Now granted, I’m paying to make sure it happens when it otherwise it may not have been made at all. And there are also the exclusives and extras that make it more worth the high cost. But I find it interesting how it’s changed my viewpoint from always getting a discount to now looking for the games that have good extras to it. I think I’m a bit addicted as I now search Kickstarter several times a day to see what new games have been added, and I’ve even looked in to some non-game projects, but most of the time, I never feel they’re worth it. I’ve seen some books and comics I want to support, but find it difficult to pay $25 for a book with nothing else extra to the pledge level.
Oooh, Vampire Hunter D! I love the first movie. The second was okay, and I’ve got a lot of the manga, but I must say, I really enjoyed the novels I picked up. I don’t have them all, but the ones I have are very good.
Love Disgaea! Man, not enough time to play all the games we want to play. Not sure if I’ve said this before, but I really enjoy you guys talking about video games as well as tabletop games. It’s nice to hear about the variety.
Another fun episode!
