Okay, third time’s the charm (I keep forgetting to put the spam protection in!). I knew I would get called out on the podcast! For the record, I did not say Michael’s voice was horrible! I think what happened was, as I was complimenting Jordan’s radio voice (after insulting his segment while trying to make up for insulting Jeff’s) I somehow dissed Michael’s voice. For the record, I LOVE my husband’s voice. There is no greater sound in the world.
I listened to the entire episode this afternoon, and while I do stand by my original statement that the episodes are a bit long for the average listener (3 and a half hours? for real?!), I did really enjoy this episode in its entirety. The interaction between you all was great the entire time and of course the addition of Cyrus did not hurt either. I’d say this was the best yet! I am very proud of you guys for doing this and doing it well. Oh, and I truly am really enjoying the Legend of Korra- just in case you thought Michael was making that up. Love you guys!
We love you too, Kate!!
You should be glad I do the editing! I tend to leave about a half hour of audio on the cutting room floor. ;-}
I think we’re pretty in line with the type of podcasts we listen to. 2+ hours is not unheard of, and we go anywhere from 2-3 hours, depending on guests, etc… But we’re definitely keeping a watch on overall feedback and will adjust if needed. ;-}
And I agree, it had been way too long since I got the opportunity to just BS with Cyrus. I plan on inviting him back, mostly so we can keep in touch properly. ;-P
Thanks for the comments, PLP!!
Always appreciate reviews of indie games, especially honest and incisive reviews. It’s great that you took enough time to offer opinions along with possible solutions to your critiques. Keep up the great work. A great guest with Father Geek. Love his contribution to the gaming universe. “)
Thanks for listening, Carl!
We enjoy playing and reviewing all types of games, so I was happy we could get some indie games on the table for this episode!
Hey Guys,
I just started listening to your cast and just caught up after listening to this episode.
I had a comment on your discussion about the Sentinels of the Multiverse Kickstarter. You might know already (seems like you keep pretty good tabs on most games on Kickstarter), but they are now offering a pledge where you can upgrade your old game and get everything but the better cards. It’s a nice option for anyone who bought the original game.
I’m loving the cast overall. It’s got a lot of really cool topics and definitely a great source of geek news. Keep up the good work!
Ben,
Thanks for listening!
Yeah, I know about the upgrade and need to let Michael know about it, but one of the things I know Michael would like is the cards with the H icon mechanic.
If there’s anything you’d like to hear, or a Geeking Out topic you’d like to hear us cover, please let us know. ;-}
Yep, I know about the upgrade too, but it doesn’t really address the real problem of adding the H mechanic to help balance the villains for different amounts of players.
I sent the guys a comment about this, but just thought I would post a correction here for the listeners.
In the Shake Out! review, two rules were miss-interpreted. First, it IS possible to stake a claim on a ‘Singles’ card using as many dice as you want that show the proper face. Also, there IS a starter’s handicap to mitigate the starting advantage. On their first rolls, the first and second players roll 3 and 4 dice respectively as opposed to the full 5.
Anyway, great podcast, clear and entertaining.
Louis
PS- I like all your voices.
Thanks Louis!
I was just reading your email. I plan on sharing it on the next podcast we record as well.
Thanks for making a great game! We enjoyed reviewing it and playing it!
PS: Our voices are an acquired taste. ;-P
This is my favorite episode so far. I really enjoyed hearing Father Geek and his contributions to the last half of the episode. The dynamics were great!
I have a lot of comments, much more than what will fit here so I’ll email you those.
Just in summary, one of my favorite moments so far is in this episode. You guys were so hilarious when discussing Jump Gate. The whole teach-ability rating just made me laugh. So far, that’s a favorite moment.
